This really is a fairy tale holiday visiting some of northern Germany’s most traditional and historic towns. It’s a real pre-Christmas shopping treat and a feast for the senses, with stalls offering the customary roasted chestnuts, gingerbread, mulled wine and super gift ideas. The fairy tale town of Hamelin is the main attraction, and there’s also the chance to visit the wonderful medieval town of Goslar.

Accommodation
You will stay in the Hotel Berkeler Warte, located on the outskirts of Hamelin. Facilities include a bar, restaurant, and bowling alley. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished with private facilities, hairdryer, TV and telephone. Please note the hotel does not have a lift.

Itinerary

Day 1
Local departure and a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Travel through Belgium into Germany for an overnight stay in the Aachen area on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2
Drive to the university city of Münster for a visit to the traditional Christmas market located in the main square, dominated by its impressive Cathedral. We continue to Hamelin for a three night stay.

Day 3
Discover the legend of the famous Pied Piper on our included walking tour of this wonderfully preserved medieval town. In the afternoon there will be time at leisure to enjoy the enchanting Christmas Market.

Day 4
Optional three-quarter day excursion to the imperial town of Goslar, located in Germany’s beautiful Harz region. This UNESCO listed town with its magnificent Market Square offers a great selection of shops and is the perfect setting for the traditional Christmas market.

Day 5
An extra highlight today is a photo stop at the Möhne Dam of Dambusters fame, before our final night in the Düsseldorf area on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 6
Depart after breakfast for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK and continue to your original departure point in the evening.
